Where can I buy BracePlus© in Australia?

BracePlus© is only available through selected distributors. Medigroup Australia is the exclusive supplier for BracePlus®

Is BracePlus© suitable for left-handed people?

Yes, BracePlus© is completely symmetrical.

How long should I wear BracePlus©?

You should take advice from your clinician. We recommend that you wear BracePlus© from the time it is put on in the ICU/medium care unit, throughout your hospital stay and then readjusted to be worn over your normal clothes for 4-6 weeks at home. You can wear it day and night, except in the shower.

How tight should BracePlus© be worn

The belt should not be too tight; you should always be able to breathe easily. However, it should be tight enough not to slip.

When I move the handle I do not feel any pressure build up, is this ok?

When there is no increase in chest pressure when using the handle, you should wear BracePlus© more tightly. Also make sure that when you first put BracePlus© on there is only one single sheet of belt visible within the brace/lock system itself and that the darker grey parts are completely on the side of the brace/lock system.

Can BracePlus© be washed?

Yes, we recommend BracePlus© be washed by hand and then air dried.

Can I put on BracePlus© without help?

When you put on BracePlus© for the first time you definitely need somebody to help you adjust it to the right pressure. Most people need help putting it on afterwards as well.

The belt curls up under my arms; is this a problem?

No, BracePlus© doesn’t lose its functionality; it adjusts itself to the body.

Can I wear BracePlus© next to my skin?

Yes, although we recommend it is worn over clothes for better access and comfort. All functions of BracePlus© will still be available and there will be no interference with the sternal wound due to its clinically-designed and patented shape.

Why is the belt of BracePlus© not elastic?

An elastic belt will not give the stability needed for optimal support during recovery.

Why is the belt width 8 cm.?

8 cm. is the width that is most comfortable for patients; a wider belt makes patients sweat more without giving more comfort.

What are the extra straps for?

Some patients like to use the straps like a bra so they feel more confident BracePlus© will not slip down.

Why is the bridge of BracePlus© the size it is?

Clinical research showed that this is the optimal size of the bridge to support the sternum in the most comfortable and optimal way.

Why is the bridge of BracePlus© shaped like that?

Due to its shape the bridge is kept clear of the sternal wound. The shape makes it possible to wear BracePlus© even when chest drains are still fitted.
